The role

Connect agricultural practice with engineering. Help the team choose relevant problems, define measurable requirements, and evaluate tools and systems under representative field conditions.

Responsibilities

  • Study agricultural operations, crop requirements, soil conditions, and the practical constraints faced by users.
  • Define implement requirements, operating parameters, agronomic criteria, and field-trial protocols.
  • Work closely with the mechanical engineer on tool concepts, geometry, operating loads, crop interaction, and usability.
  • Coordinate with AI and software engineers on sensing needs, data collection, and interpretation of observations.
  • Organize field feedback, document trials, analyze results, and recommend design revisions.
  • Consider resource use, maintenance, operator safety, and economic practicality in design decisions.

Requirements

  • At least 6 years of relevant agricultural engineering, farm mechanization, field trials, or agricultural product-development experience.
  • Strong understanding of agricultural operations and the interaction between implements, crops, and soil.
  • Experience translating field requirements into measurable engineering specifications.
  • Ability to plan experiments, interpret data, and work with mechanical and software teams.
  • Clear technical documentation and communication with operators and project partners.

Working arrangements

Remote collaboration is the default. Necessary farm visits and prototype trials will be planned with agreed locations, schedules, and expenses.

Helpful experience

Precision agriculture, irrigation, farm machinery evaluation, sensors, and structured user research.

Engagement and compensation

This is a remote, Hyderabad-based contract-to-hire opportunity. The monthly INR range depends on relevant skills and years of experience. Contract duration, working arrangements, and deliverables will be agreed in writing. Conversion to permanent employment depends on performance, business needs, and mutual agreement and is not guaranteed.
